Zirconium crucible for molten ore describe

The ore must dissolve for ICP-OES to work. At 650 °C, fusion with sodium peroxide is used to achieve this. 

The mineral lattice is destroyed by sodium peroxide fusion, which also changes all the elements into oxides that can dissolve in hydrochloric acid but not the ore. 

This requires a vessel that can withstand the intensely oxidative conditions required for the fusion. 

Zr crucible is an excellent metal since it is resistant to these circumstances and has a variety of uses (approximately 100 fusion cycles per crucible).
