ASTM B351 is a zirconium alloy rod standard developed by the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), which is applicable to different grades of zirconium alloys. Zircaloy-4 (Zr-4), also known as Zircaloy-4, is a zirconium-based alloy containing a small amount of tin, iron, and chromium. It is mainly used in the nuclear industry and high-temperature corrosion resistance fields. Due to its excellent radiation resistance, high temperature stability and good mechanical properties, Zr-4 is one of the main choices for nuclear reactor fuel cladding materials.

ASTM B351 zircaloy-4 rod main uses

1. Nuclear industry: Zr-4 is mainly used for nuclear reactor fuel cladding, fuel support structure, piping system, etc. Its low thermal neutron absorption cross section (0.18 barn) makes it an ideal material in the nuclear energy field.

2. Chemical industry: Due to its excellent corrosion resistance, it can be used to manufacture acid and alkali resistant pipes, heat exchangers, valves, etc.

3. Aerospace: Zr-4 is stable in high temperature and radiation environments and is suitable for some aerospace components.
