Tantalum foil is an ultra-thin metal sheet made of high-purity tantalum (Ta) through vacuum melting, precision rolling and annealing. It is typically 0.01–0.1 mm thick and has a purity of 99.9%–99.999%.
1. Core Characteristics
High Melting Point and High Temperature Stability: Melting point approximately 3000°C, maintaining strength and shape at high temperatures, suitable for vacuum/high-temperature furnaces and heat shielding layers.
Extreme Corrosion Resistance: Only hydrofluoric acid corrodes it at room temperature; resistant to strong corrosive media such as hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, and aqua regia; surface self-passivates to form a dense oxide film.
Excellent Mechanical and Machinability: Body-centered cubic structure, room temperature tensile strength 240–300 MPa, elongation 25%–40%, suitable for micro-stamping, winding, and laser welding.
Stable Electrical Properties: Dielectric constant approximately 27, extremely low leakage current (<1 nA/cm²), ideal material for high-reliability capacitors and thin-film circuits.
Biocompatibility: Non-toxic and bio-inert, suitable for implantable materials and medical electrodes.

1. Electronics and Semiconductors (Largest Application Area)
Tantalum electrolytic capacitor anodes: High specific capacitance, low leakage current, long lifespan; used in key energy storage/filtering components such as mobile phones, computers, automotive electronics, and 5G base stations.
Semiconductor sputtering targets: Deposit Ta/TaN barrier layers and Ta₂O₅ high-k dielectric films; used in advanced process chips (such as CPUs and memory).
OLED evaporation boats/heat shields: High temperature resistant, non-polluting; used for heat shielding in organic material evaporation and photolithography processes.
2. Chemical Corrosion Protection
Reaction vessel/container linings, tower packing, heat exchangers: Resistant to strong acids/halogens; used in highly corrosive environments such as fine chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and hydrometallurgy.
3. Medical and Bioengineering
Implantable electrodes, nerve stimulation electrodes, cranial repair mesh, artificial joint coatings: Biocompatible, good osteoconductivity, safe for long-term implantation.
Electrode patches for beauty instruments: Conductive, resistant to skin secretions corrosion; suitable for precision care devices.
4. Aerospace and High Temperatures
Spacecraft thermal shielding/radiation protection: Laminated with aluminum to form lightweight, multi-layered shields, protecting sensitive circuits from space radiation.
Aircraft engine hot-end components, vacuum furnace/sintering furnace linings: High temperature resistance, creep resistance, adaptable to extreme operating conditions.
