GR12 Titanium Rod Instructions

GR12 Titanium Rod It is a near-alpha alloy. The content of 0.3% Mo and 0.8% Ni in this alloy not only enhances the corrosion resistance of GR12 titanium rod, but is far superior to that of pure titanium and comparable to that of GR7 alloy. It has good crevice corrosion resistance to high temperature, low pH chlorides or weak reducing acids. GR12 titanium rods are often used in the chemical industry, with outstanding process plasticity and welding performance. The main end products of the alloy include plate, bar, tube, forgings and wire, which can be used in annealed form.

Product Properties

GR12 titanium rod density is 4.54g/m3, the elastic modulus at room temperature is 103~107GPa, the hardness is HB180~215, and the phase transition point is 890±15℃.

Nickel enhances titanium's resistance to crevice corrosion in hydrochloric acid solution, but in reducing acid, the Ti-Ni alloy's corrosion resistance is inferior to that of pure titanium. Molybdenum can be added to Ti-Ni alloy to increase the corrosion resistance of GR12 titanium rod in reducing media.

Application areas

The production of compressor parts, including forged titanium fans, compressor discs, blades, cast titanium compressor casings, intermediate casings, bearing housings, etc., mostly use GR12 titanium rod.The production of various pressure vessels, fuel tanks, fasteners, instrument straps, frames, and rocket casings for spacecraft mostly relies on the high specific strength, corrosion resistance, and low temperature resistance of titanium alloys. Titanium alloy sheet welding is also used in artificial earth satellites, lunar modules, manned spacecraft, and space shuttles.
