Product Description

Timascus (Moku-Ti) is a multi-layered titanium alloy composite material, made through three core processes: vacuum/atmosphere protected forging, pattern forming, and anodizing (or hot coloring). It has four major characteristics: lightweight, corrosion resistance, non-magnetic, and iridescent texture, making it a top-tier material for high-end art metals and custom knives/jewelry.

I. Core Process Flow (6 Steps)

1. Material Selection and Preparation
Common Combination: Industrial pure titanium (TA1/TA2/Gr1) + TC4 (Ti-6Al-4V) (the two alloys have the greatest difference in oxidation color)
Number of Layers: 50–300 layers stacked alternately, thickness 0.1–1mm/layer
Pretreatment: Thorough grinding, pickling, degreasing (oxide scale/oil on the titanium surface will cause forging failure)

2. Encapsulation and Anti-oxidation (Critical)
Argon arc welding at the four corners of the laminated titanium plates for positioning to prevent misalignment
Entire assembly placed in a sealed steel ladle/vacuum tank, filled with high-purity argon for protection
Absolute oxygen-free: Titanium > 400℃ will absorb hydrogen and oxygen violently, causing embrittlement and scrapping

3. High-Temperature Stacking Forging (Core)
Temperature: 900–1000℃ (α+β phase region, good plasticity)
Method: Forging / Rolling / 1. Isostatic pressing, repeated upsetting, drawing, and twisting

Purpose: Interlayer metallurgical bonding (molecular-level fusion), simultaneously forming natural patterns such as flowing water patterns, cloud patterns, and swirling patterns

4. Machining
Forging billets are milled, ground, and wire-cut into plates/bars/blocks.
Surface is finely ground and polished (Ra≤0.8) to prepare for color development.

5. Iridescent Color Development (Artistic Soul)
Two mainstream processes:
Anodizing (mainstream)
Electrolyte: Sulfuric acid/phosphoric acid solution
Voltage: 10–120V (Voltage → Oxide film thickness → Color)
Effect: TC4 layer leans towards blue/purple, pure titanium layer leans towards gold/green, distinct layers
Hot Color Development (Browsing)
Heating under vacuum/argon at **300–600℃**
Warm tones (bronze, golden yellow, blue-purple), heavy texture

6. Finishing and Sealing
Light electrolytic polishing/chemical passivation
Cleansing → Drying → Sealing treatment (anti-fingerprint, color retention)

III. Performance and Applications

Core Advantages

Ultra-lightweight: Density 4.51g/cm³ (60% of steel)

Superior Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to seawater, acids, alkalis, and salt spray; never rusts.

Non-magnetic: Suitable for precision instruments, medical applications, and anti-magnetic scenarios.

Unique: Each piece has a unique texture and color.

Main Applications

High-end Knives: Handles, guards, tailpieces

Jewelry/Watches: Rings, watch straps, watch faces

EDC: Slippers, pendants, lighter cases, charms

Medical/Precision: Implant housings, anti-magnetic components

IV. Summary of Key Processing Points

Titanium Maestro is not simply "titanium plates glued together," but a metallurgical composite of multiple layers of titanium alloys under high temperature and pressure. Precise anodizing then creates rainbow-like layered colors across the alloy layers. The process is complex, with low yield and high material loss (often up to 80%), resulting in high prices and a high-end positioning.
