The core applications of laboratory zirconium crucibles are concentrated in experimental scenarios involving high temperature, high purity, strong corrosion, and precious metals/rare earths/special materials.
I. Zirconium (Zr) Crucibles: Resistant to strong alkalis and corrosion
Strong Alkali Melting and Decomposition
Used with strong alkaline fluxes such as sodium peroxide (Na₂O₂), sodium hydroxide (NaOH), and sodium carbonate (Na₂CO₃) to decompose silicate, ores, high-silicon materials, alloys, and steel samples, replacing expensive platinum crucibles.
Strong Acid Environments (Except for non-oxidizing hot concentrated acids)
Resistant to hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, nitric acid, and phosphoric acid, suitable for high-temperature reactions, corrosion testing, and sample digestion in acidic systems.
Lithium Salts / Special Fluxes
Suitable for melting lithium salts (Li₂CO₃, LiBO₂), avoiding interference from sodium/potassium in elemental analysis.
Active Metals / Vacuum Melting
Used for small-scale melting (vacuum/inert atmosphere) of active metals such as titanium, zirconium, hafnium, niobium, and tantalum.
High-Temperature Ashing / Incineration
Used for high-temperature incineration and ashing of organic and biological samples, resistant to oxidation and with low pollution.

II. Core Performance (Why Choose Zirconium Crucibles)
Zirconium Metal (Zr)
Resistant to strong alkaline fluxes (alternative to platinum crucibles)
Resistant to most strong acids (except hot concentrated HF, aqua regia)
Operating Temperature: Approximately 600–1100℃ (temperature control is required in air to prevent oxidation)
Low contamination, suitable for precision machining
Zirconium Oxide (ZrO₂)
Ultra-high temperature: Usable up to 2200℃
Extremely chemically inert: Does not react with most metals, oxides, or silicates
Resistant to thermal shock, dense, low contamination
Suitable for high-purity / precious metals / rare earth / ultra-high temperature applications
III. Contraindications (Must Avoid)
Zirconium Metal: Hydrofluoric acid (HF), fluorides, concentrated oxidizing acids (hot concentrated nitric acid + hydrochloric acid), high-temperature air (easily oxidized at >600℃)
Zirconium Oxide: Hydrofluoric acid (HF), strong alkaline fluxes (high temperature)
