Zr702 zirconium wire is a commercial pure zirconium, low thermal expansion, high density, high strength, good corrosion resistance, and low electrical resistivity, zirconium is also a reactive metal with a high affinity for oxygen, thus forming in air at room temperature protective oxide layer. This protective oxide gives zirconium alloys excellent corrosion resistance. The oxide layer can be enhanced by a heat treatment process. A properly formed enhanced oxide layer acts as an excellent bearing surface for a variety of materials, imparting impressive corrosion resistance in high-speed systems and can improve corrosion resistance in certain corrosive environments. Zirconium alloys exhibit good ductility even at low temperatures, their common engineering alloys.
