Inconel 718 has good comprehensive properties in the temperature range of -253~700℃. The yield strength below 650℃ ranks first among deformed superalloys. It also has good fatigue resistance, radiation resistance, oxidation resistance, corrosion resistance, and good With its processing performance, welding performance and long-term structural stability, it can manufacture various parts with complex shapes. It has been widely used in the aerospace, nuclear energy, and petroleum industries within the above temperature range.
Another feature of this alloy is that the alloy's structure is particularly sensitive to the thermal processing process. By mastering the phase precipitation and dissolution rules in the alloy and the relationship between the structure, process, and properties, reasonable and feasible process procedures can be formulated for different use requirements. A variety of parts are available to meet different strength levels and usage requirements.

1. High temperature strength and creep resistance
Inconel 718 has extremely high strength in high temperature environments below 700°C (about 1300°F), and excellent tensile strength and creep rupture properties.
This property makes it particularly suitable for turbine blades, turbine disks and other high-temperature components in gas turbine engines.
2. Corrosion resistance
It has good resistance to oxidation, stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion, especially in acidic and oxidizing environments.
It can be used to treat parts in chemical equipment that are exposed to sulfuric acid, nitric acid or salt environments.
3. Excellent welding performance
Inconel 718 has good welding performance and will not cause cracks due to sensitization effects after welding.
It is particularly suitable for the manufacture of complex welded structures.
4. Mechanical properties
Tensile strength: about 1030 MPa (at room temperature).
Yield strength: about 725 MPa (at room temperature).
Ductility: Elongation is usually around 12-20%.
Hardness: Usually between HRC 30-40 (depending on the heat treatment state).
5. Good machinability
Inconel 718 has good machinability after solution and aging treatment. Although it has a high tendency to work harden, good surface quality can be achieved with appropriate tools and processing parameters.
6. Age hardening
Inconel 718 can be strengthened by age hardening. The aging process can be adjusted to optimize the material's properties (such as fatigue resistance and creep resistance).
7. Fatigue resistance
It has excellent fatigue resistance and performs well in both high-cycle fatigue and low-cycle fatigue environments.
