Titanium Welding Wire Product Introduction Titanium welding wire is a special welding filler material made from industrial pure titanium or titanium alloys through a complete process including vacuum melting, hot working, multi-pass precision cold drawing, vacuum heat treatment, and ultra-clean surface treatment. It is divided into two main categories: solid titanium welding wire (the industry mainstream) and flux-cored titanium welding wire. With its mechanical properties highly matched to the base material, extreme corrosion resistance, and excellent weldability, titanium welding wire is a core consumable for welding titanium and titanium alloy structures, and a key basic material for welding under extreme conditions in aerospace, chemical corrosion protection, marine engineering, and high-end medical fields.
I. Core Grades and Classifications Based on chemical composition, performance, and applicable scenarios, titanium welding wire can be divided into three main categories: industrial pure titanium welding wire, corrosion-resistant titanium alloy welding wire, and high-strength titanium alloy welding wire. The mainstream grades all correspond one-to-one with national standards and international AWS standards, making them universally accepted choices for global trade and engineering applications. Key information is shown in the table below:

II. Core Performance Characteristics The core performance of titanium welding wire revolves around two main aspects: welding adaptability and service stability. Its key characteristics, distinguishing it from carbon steel and stainless steel welding wires, are as follows:
Superior Welding Process Performance: Annealed titanium welding wire exhibits excellent plasticity, ensuring smooth wire feeding without jamming or breakage. Under standard inert gas protection, the welding arc is stable, the molten pool has good fluidity, and the weld formation is aesthetically pleasing with no spatter. It is suitable for all welding processes, including manual TIG welding, automated MIG welding, robotic welding, and plasma welding.
Exceptional Resistance to Corrosion Media: After weld formation, a dense and continuous titanium dioxide passivation film is formed. From room temperature to 200℃, its corrosion resistance to seawater, nitric acid, organic acids, dilute sulfuric acid, and strong alkalis far exceeds that of 304/316L stainless steel, making it suitable for long-term service conditions involving strong corrosion, such as in chemical and marine environments.
Stable mechanical property matching: The welded joint exhibits high matching degree of strength, plasticity, and toughness with the base material, with no significant performance degradation; the room temperature tensile strength of industrial pure titanium welding wire welds is ≥345MPa, and the elongation is ≥20%; the tensile strength of TC4 alloy welding wire welds is ≥895MPa, and the elongation is ≥10%, meeting the mechanical requirements of pressure-bearing and load-bearing structures.
Strict cleanliness and anti-contamination characteristics: The finished welding wire undergoes multiple cleaning processes, with no oxide film, oil, or hydrogen, oxygen, or nitrogen impurities remaining on the surface; titanium readily reacts with oxygen, hydrogen, nitrogen, and carbon above 400℃. Qualified titanium welding wire can minimize the risk of weld embrittlement, porosity, and cracking, ensuring the long-term stability of the welded joint.
Basic physical parameters: density 4.51g/cm³, melting point 1668℃, coefficient of thermal expansion 8.6×10⁻⁶/℃, thermal conductivity at room temperature 15.24W/(m・K), non-magnetic, suitable for non-magnetic working conditions such as nuclear magnetic resonance equipment and precision electronics.
